Welcome to 2026, Albuquerque!

It feels especially meaningful to not only be stepping into a bright new year but also a historic third term as your mayor. Thank you! Being sworn in on my family bible with nearly 1,000 of you at my inauguration was a powerful reaffirmation of your trust. This new term comes with a clear purpose: to keep amping up safety, affordability, and livability to make our city more welcoming and full of opportunity for everyone.

And we’re already getting to it. We broke ground on renovating the first of two long-vacant buildings at San Mateo and Central into hundreds of new homes, many of them affordable. This kind of smart investment is bringing stability and renewed energy to areas all over town in need of a fresh chapter.

January also held moments of reflection and solidarity. Hundreds gathered for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march and 30th annual community breakfast hosted by Grant Chapel AME Church honoring his legacy of unity, service, and hope. We also celebrated the graduation of Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s 104th cadet class — 35 new firefighters stepping up — and the confirmation of their chief, Emily Jaramillo, along with Chief Administrative Officer Samantha Sengel (in fact for the first time ever, the chiefs of all three of our public safety departments and six out of nine City Council members are women). These leaders’ experience and dedication will help me keep Albuquerque running smoothly as we start ‘26 strong.

To another phenomenal four years,

Mayor Tim Keller
