June 26, 2018

The City of Albuquerque and USL New Mexico will host four more World Cup watch parties on Civic Plaza over the final weeks of the World Cup. Games will be shown on the Plaza’s new 16x30 foot high-definition visual display with its upgraded sound system.

“Burqueños have always loved soccer, and that enthusiasm continues to grow during this year’s World Cup,” stated Mayor Keller. “Despite the United States not making it this year, we’re excited to show World Cup games on Civic Plaza so folks from around the City can come together and cheer on their favorite teams. We have four more games, including the World Cup final, and we encourage everyone to come down and check out the fun.”

The next watch party will take place Thursday, June 28 at 12:00 p.m. when England takes on Belgium at Kaliningrad Stadium. The action will continue with two quarterfinal matchups on Saturday, July 7 at 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The watch parties will culminate with the World Cup final on Sunday, July 15 at 9:00 a.m.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase at each watch party. USL New Mexico representatives will also be on hand for people to place deposits for season tickets for its inaugural season.
