Today, Mayor Tim Keller recognized eight exceptional community members with the Volunteer of the Month and One Albuquerque Awards. The celebration honored award recipients from November, December, and January whose dedication and service have supported our city and helped those in need.

The following community members were recognized for their wide-ranging efforts, which include providing live-saving assistance, teaching financial literacy, promoting animal health and adoptions, building Little Free Libraries, and volunteering at city shelters to support the unhoused.

  • Volunteer Award Recipients:
    • Tim West – Little Free Libraries
    • Stacey George and Emily Santa Marie – Animal Welfare
    • Erika Mcbee and Duke Jackson – Health, Housing, & Homelessness
  • One Albuquerque Award Recipients:
    • Enrique Ochoa – Volcano Vista High School
    • Lorenzo Garcia – Driver for Solid Waste
    • Evelyn Blanco – First Financial Credit Union

These awardees demonstrate how civic engagement can create meaningful change at any scale, starting with simple actions in our neighborhoods.

“These selfless volunteers show us what it means to step up and lend a hand when it matters most,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Their dedication reminds us that when we work together, we can tackle big challenges and make real, lasting impact in our community.”

“I love reading to children and being a part of a community that encourages others to give back,” said Erika Mcbee. “It was truly inspiring to hear the stories of the other award winners, and I’m honored to be recognized alongside them.”
