September 18, 2025

Today Mayor Tim Keller and Albuquerque Police Department (APD) Chief Harold Medina recognized three exceptional people with the Volunteer of the Month and One Albuquerque Awards, celebrating their contributions to the community.

The Following Were Commended for their Helpful Actions

Volunteer of the Month Award Recipients

    1. July – Chantelle Martinez of Blessed and Beautiful for leading efforts to help victims of abuse and poverty.
    2. September – Jolynn Maestas, Sunport ambassador, for greeting Albuquerque visitors with a warm welcome and volunteering in her neighborhood and local hospitals.

One Albuquerque Award Recipients

    1. Amber Logan for taking heroic action to save a man suffering cardiac arrest.
    2. Officer Matthew Fisher, receiving an APD Accommodation Award for assisting Amber’s lifesaving efforts.

These awardees demonstrate the value of personal proactivity in creating a strong and connected city. From assisting people experiencing hardship to highlighting the best of our City to actually saving lives, their efforts highlight the various ways one person can make an enormous difference.

“It takes a special kind of person to put the well-being of others ahead of their own,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “These volunteers not only serve our great City, they serve as stellar role models.”

“The more we work together, the stronger we can build our communities and the more we can inspire others to make change,” said award recipient Chantelle Martinez.

The APD Accommodation Award is awarded by the chief of police to a department employee who has distinguished themselves by performing superior skills in a duty of great responsibility. The One Albuquerque Award is given to City workers and community members who go above and beyond in their service to the public.
