ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Mayor Tim Keller took a detour during Tuesday’s National Night Out celebrations to give the Roadrunner Junior League All-Stars a high-fiving hometown sendoff before they head to the Junior League Baseball World Series in Michigan. Keller congratulated the team on their phenomenal season and wished them luck as they represent New Mexico and the Southwest Region on one of youth baseball's biggest stages.

During the visit Keller gave the players a pep talk and commended the families and coaches. He also grabbed a glove to field some grounders.

"This team has already achieved so much, and now you get to represent our city and state in the big time," Keller said. "You've earned every bit of this opportunity, and Albuquerque will be cheering you on."

The Roadrunner squad secured their place in the Series after capturing the Southwest Regional Championship, becoming just the third team ever from New Mexico to qualify for the tournament. They play the Series’ first-round winner August 10.
