Albuquerque Keeps Top Credit Rating from S&P Global
The S&P Global Ratings has again reaffirmed the City of Albuquerque’s “AAA” credit rating, indicating “an extremely strong capacity to meet its financial commitments.” The “AAA” rating is the highest credit rating assigned and demonstrates the City’s sound financial position and responsible debt management ability.
An “AAA” offers the City lower borrowing costs and more competitive interest rates. Most importantly it builds investor confidence, which can lead to more projects and more capital for infrastructure and other improvements.
“Steadfast stewardship of taxpayer dollars is the cornerstone of responsible government,” said Chief Financial Officer Kevin Sourisseau. “This ‘AAA’ rating affirms that trust in the City’s financial management.”
“As a city, it’s our job to stretch and safeguard every dollar for the good of our community,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We take this responsibility very seriously and our ‘AAA’ credit rating shows that. We’re making sure Albuquerque’s financial position is solid so we can keep investing in programs and services that make our city safer.”
