Aquarium Overnight FAQs

Frequently asked questions (and answers!) about our popular family sleepovers.

What should I bring?

A packing list is included with the Overnight confirmation email, but all participants should bring a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, pillow, toiletries, pajamas, and flashlight.

What time should I arrive?

Check-in is from 6:00-6:50 p.m. The program will begin with admittance to the Aquarium promptly at 7 p.m.

What time does the event end?

The program concludes at 8 a.m. the following morning.

Where should I go when I arrive?

Upon arriving, take all personal and sleeping items to the Shark Reef Café (NOT the Aquarium) for check-in. Guests are allowed to wait inside Shark Reef until the program starts at 7 p.m.

Is food provided?

Food is not provided as part of the program and will not be available for purchase. We strongly recommend that you bring your own dinner, snacks and something to drink. All food and drinks will be restricted to the main plaza and in the “snack zone” in the Shark Reef Café. You are permitted to have personal, spill-proof water container next to you and your sleeping bag in the Aquarium. (No glass containers or alcohol permitted). The Shark Reef Café will be open for breakfast on Saturday morning (no reservations are required).

What will we do?

Explore the Aquarium and visit discovery stations to learn more about your favorite sea creature, meet marine animals up close at the touchpools, play games and take home an ocean craft. Wake up with the fishes at 6:30 a.m. For your fishy finale, join an optional special tour at 7:30 a.m. before you leave at 8 a.m. Each month focuses on a different aquatic animal.

Can I leave the Aquarium during the Overnight?

Once you have arrived for the evening, you are strongly encouraged to remain on the premises. Security can be called for those who need to leave due to an emergency. Education staff is not permitted to administer first aid so please bring any medical items you may need. Security will be present in the case of an emergency.
