ABQ BioPark Announces Must-see Moments With BioPark Connections

Enhance your visit by experiencing training, feeding, keeper chats and more!
January 29, 2024

June 1, 2023 – The ABQ BioPark Zoo, Botanic Garden and Aquarium now have more opportunities for guests to connect with nature. With the launch of the new BioPark Connections program, guests can attend daily demonstrations, keeper chats, training sessions, tours, storytimes and more, led by BioPark staff and volunteers. All activities are included with regular admission.

“BioPark Connections make every day at the BioPark an extra special opportunity to learn more about nature and how we care for it.” said Allyson Zahm, Guest Experience Manager. “Every habitat, animal and plant has a fascinating story, and we’re excited to share those stories with our guests.”

The schedule of daily BioPark Connections is designed to help guests plan their time at the Zoo, Botanic Garden and Aquarium. BioPark Connections may change seasonally, so guests are encouraged to check signage at the entry to the parks or to view the schedule online at the calendar.

Current BioPark Connections take place at the following locations and more:

  • Hippos
  • Elephants
  • Sharks
  • Penguins
  • Asia Primates
  • Asia Carnivores
  • Lemurs
  • Raptors
  • Komodo Dragon walk
  • BUGarium
  • Aquarium divers
  • Ambassador animal meet and greets
  • Curandera Garden
  • Sasebo Japanese Garden

Animal well-being, health and safety are the BioPark’s top priorities, and the animal and plant care teams may occasionally need to cancel BioPark Connections.

In addition to scheduled BioPark Connections, BioPark staff and volunteers may offer unscheduled Guest Experience Moments (or, GEMs) to teach guests about how we care for animals and plants.

Summer is the busiest season at the ABQ BioPark and we encourage all guests to get their tickets online in advance of their visit. There are a limited number of tickets available each day, and we frequently sell out.

In addition to guaranteed entry, guests who already have secured their tickets before arrival will enjoy faster entry at the gate and first choice for the very popular Aquarium entry and Combo Tickets, which includes access to the Zoo, Botanic Garden and Aquarium as well as transportation on the all new electric shuttle. Combo tickets sell out first, so get your tickets in advance.
