KAFB requests a new air quality permit for an emergency generator for the Fire Station No. 3.

Kirtland Air Force Base submitted an application for a new air quality construction permit to the Air Quality Program (Program) of the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department. The Program received the application on March 17, 2023. The owner of the facility is Kirtland Air Force Base. The facility, Fire Station No. 3 is located at 28100 Pennsylvania Rd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87117. This application file has been assigned Permit Application No. 3492.  The Program has made an affirmative administrative completeness determination and is providing this notice pursuant to 20.11.41.14 NMAC.

 

The applicant is requesting a new construction permit. The applicant is requesting to install a Cummins 324 horsepower, EPA Tier III emission certified, diesel fired internal combustion engine coupled with a 150 kW emergency electrical generator. A 500 hour per year limit on total operation and 100 hour per year limit on maintenance operation are required for emergency generators pursuant to 40 CFR 60, Subpart IIII.
