Officers Discharge Weapons after Encountering Threat

Just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, officers responded to a suspicious person call in the area of Chico and Rhode Island. The caller reported there was a suspicious man and reported there were multiple shots being fired in the area.

As officers approached, there were additional reports of shots being fired in the area. Officers approached a subject, encountered a threat and discharged their weapons. The subject was taken into custody without injuries.

Officers then located an additional subject in the area who had been shot prior to the officer's arrival on scene. This subject was transported to a local hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

Both subjects are being interviewed.

Three officers were involved in this incident.

This is still a very active investigation and investigators will be on scene throughout the night.

The multi-jurisdictional investigative team is assisting with this case.
