Dec. 24, 2020

During the holiday week, Downtown officers with the Albuquerque Police Department helped homeless members of our community, and a four-legged friend in need.

The officers came together to perform an outreach tac plan as a way to connect with homeless individuals in the Downtown area.

Through the tac plan, they were able to meet 26 individuals and provided them much needed resources like Heading Home, providing them a place to stay and necessities during a challenging time of year.

Officers were also able to get them gift bags with clothing, including socks, underwear and undershirts.

The officers even made a sweater out of a sock for a cold 7 week-old puppy belonging to some of the people they assisted. Officer Josh Isler purchased dog food for the puppy, and his fellow officers connected its owners to Heading Home as they could not afford food or the trip home to California.
