APD Chief Geier Announces 19 Promotions, 2 New Commanders

Chief Geier promoted 10 APD officers to the rank of Sergeant, seven Sergeants to the rank of Lieutenant, and two Lieutenants to the rank of Commander.

Commander Cori Lowe

Chief Geier promoted Cori Lowe to the rank of Commander in charge of the Accountability and Oversight Division, which is part of the Compliance Bureau. Commander Lowe has been a key leader in APD’s successful efforts to work with the Department of Justice and all of the groups involved in the Court Approved Settlement Agreement.

Commander Lowe has served with the Albuquerque Police Department since 2005.  Lowe served as a Lieutenant with the Special Investigations Division overseeing the HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) and Narcotics Sections.  She also served as a Lieutenant in the Compliance Bureau overseeing the management and accountability of the Department of Justice Court Approved Settlement Agreement.

As a Sergeant, Lowe served in the Field Services Bureau, in the Valley Area Command and was a Field Training Sergeant Coordinator.  Lowe spent four years in the Criminal Investigations Division as the Sergeant of the Armed Robbery Unit.  She supervised the Armed Robbery Unit and was part of the Violent Crimes call-out team as a supervisor for Homicides, Officer Involved Shootings and other cases meeting a full Violent Crimes call out criteria.

Commander Zachary L. Wesley

Chief Geier also promoted Zachary L. Wesley to the rank of Commander in charge of the Valley Area Command. He has served for more than 20 years in law enforcement, working two years with the North Little Rock Police Department in Arkansas, and the past 18 years with the Albuquerque Police Department. Wesley served as Lieutenant in the Crisis Intervention Section for two years in APD’s Criminal Compliance Bureau, overseeing the Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU), Enhanced CIT Program, Mobile Crisis Teams, Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST), Crisis Intervention Clinician(s), and psychiatrist, as well as the management of the department’s Crisis Intervention Team program, and served as Lieutenant for the Field Services Bureau Valley Area Command.

As a Sergeant with APD, Wesley supervised Field Services units in the Valley, Northeast, and Foothills area commands and also supervised Detectives in the Pawnshop Detail, Crime Stoppers unit, and the Burglary unit. As part of the property crimes division Wesley was in charge of several proposals in an attempt to get an electronic reporting system (LeadsOnline) in place to assist the Pawn Shop Detail in the recovery of stolen property.
