Sky Portal

Stand Inside and Look Up!

Sky Portal"Sky Portal" is a permanent installation at the Balloon Museum by sculptor Randy Walker.

Completed and dedicated in 2014, this piece features a mirror-polished steel ring as the focal point suspended by 24 steel cables sitting on top of a compass rose.

The installation measures 70' wide by 25' tall.

“The story of lighter-than-air flight is animated with circles, spheres, rings, and radiating lines. Configured into the elegant balloon form, these geometries change our perception of both earth and sky. Inspired by the structures, history and experience of ballooning, 'Sky Portal' seeks to create a specific place where people come together at the point where sky and earth converge.”  -- Randy Walker
