Senior Affairs Offers Free Firewood to Seniors

Due to overwhelming demand, we are no longer taking orders.

Mayor Tim Keller and Department of Senior Affairs Director Anna Sanchez announced today that free firewood would be available to seniors in need of help getting firewood for their homes this winter.

The Department of Senior Affairs has partnered with Parks and Recreation to offer firewood to seniors 60 years of age and older in Bernalillo County. The firewood will be delivered by a team from Senior Affairs to the homes of eligible seniors, while supplies last. The firewood is salt cedar, cottonwood, Siberian elm and Russian olive that was removed from the Rio Grande Valley State Park Bosque as part of the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division’s routine maintenance of the Bosque.
