Senior Affairs Department Kicks Off Annual Holiday Donation Drive

Help to brighten the day of a senior in need this holiday season
October 18, 2023

With the holiday season fast approaching, the Department of Senior Affairs is inviting the public to help spread holiday cheer to older adults in need. The Department is currently accepting donations of critical items for homebound seniors as part of its Annual Senior Holiday Donation Drive.

“For older adults already experiencing social isolation and loneliness, the holidays can be a difficult time,” said Anna Sanchez, Director of Senior Affairs. “Not only do these donations help us meet a critical need, but they also go a long way in helping us spread joy to those who are most vulnerable.”

All items collected will be assembled into care packages and delivered to older adults in Albuquerque who have limited incomes or would otherwise struggle to get the items for themselves.

Items needed include:

  • New scarves, hats, gloves, socks
  • Protein drinks (Ensure/Boost)
  • Adult Depends
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Laundry detergent
  • Facial tissue, toilet paper
  • Soap, lotion, grooming sets

Community members may also give online by purchasing items from our Amazon registry.

Items must be new or unused and may be dropped off at any City of Albuquerque senior or multigenerational center between now and November 3, 2023. See a full list of locations.
