North Domingo Baca Concession Area Dedicated in Memory of Beloved Volunteer
Today, Mayor Tim Keller joined the Department of Senior Affairs (DSA) to commemorate the naming of the Concession Area at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center in memory of beloved volunteer, Genevieve “Genny” Barrera. This event is part of the larger ABQ Stories of Us initiative that recognizes the extraordinary people who have made a lasting impact on the community.
“Genny embodied the resilient spirit of our community through her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought to everyone at the center,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “With this dedication, we celebrate her contributions to our community, and her enduring legacy of selflessness.”
Despite her challenges with Prader-Willi Syndrome, Genny Barrera was a dedicated volunteer at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center for nine years. She especially enjoyed volunteering in the Concession Area, where she was known for always serving others with a smile and a caring heart.
“Genny was more than a volunteer, she was a cherished part of the North Domingo Baca family,” said Anna Sanchez, Director of Senior Affairs. “This dedication is a celebration of her life and a lasting tribute to her remarkable ability to connect and uplift those around her.”
ABQ Stories of Us is an initiative to salute visionaries, central figures, and inspirational leaders who have made significant contributions to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the city.
