APD launches new video series – “Duke City Case Files”

Series to highlight unsolved cases.

June 2, 2021

In an effort to draw attention to unsolved cases, the Albuquerque Police Department is launching a new video series called Duke City Case Files.

The series will focus on unsolved homicides but will also feature success stories of solved cases, and will even highlight programs and tools used by investigators to help solve these cases.

The videos include interviews with detectives explaining details of the cases but also interviews with family members of the victims.

The first video features the homicide of DeAndre Garcia, a 20 year-old who was murdered at a Northwest Apartment complex in 2019.  He was a guitar prodigy that received international recognition for his talent. Garcia had just been accepted into the Air Force prior to his death.

DeAndre’s family is hopeful that by sharing more about his life and details of the case, someone with information about his death, may come forward.

If anyone has tips, they are encouraged to contact APD’s Homicide Unit at (505)-924-6096, or tips can be left anonymously with Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at (505)-843-STOP, or on their website, p3tips.com/531.

The videos will be uploaded to APD’s social media platforms at the beginning of each month, and we encourage you to share these cases with your viewers to help garner leads.
