APD charges stabbing suspect with murder

ALBUQUERQUE – Homicide detectives arrested and charged William Nofsinger for the fatal stabbing of a man during a fight at an apartment complex Wednesday in southeast Albuquerque.

Nofsinger, 60, claimed he stabbed the man in self-defense, but detectives determined his version of events was not consistent with the stab wounds inflicted upon the victim. The victim suffered a large, deep laceration in his throat, as well as about 15 puncture wounds on his body.

The victim’s next of kin has not yet been formally notified.

Nofsinger stayed on scene following the stabbing Wednesday afternoon at the apartment complex, located at 1313 Wellesley Dr. S.E. He was later booked into the Metro Detention Center and charged with an open count of murder.
