Homicide arrest
July 07, 2023

ALBUQUERQUE – APD detectives arrested Dylan Wolfe who is charged with the 2021 murder of Edward Purviss III at a motel in the Foothills Area Command.

Wolfe, who is currently 26, is accused of fatally shooting Purviss in the early morning hours of April 9, 2021 inside the room at the Ramada/Amberly Suites, located at 25 Hotel Circle NE. Homicide detectives determined that Wolfe owed Purviss money for illegal drugs, and he set up a meeting for another drug purchase as part of a premeditated plan to murder Purviss.

Investigators used cell phone and social media data, in addition to interviews with associates, to conclude that Wolfe was at the hotel at the time of the shooting, and he planned the shooting so that he didn’t think he would get caught.

In the days leading up to the murder, Wolfe’s phone revealed the following Internet searches:

April 6, 2021 – “Where can I sell my gun”

April 8, 2021 – “box of 50 9mm fmj”

April 8, 2021 – “can a pillow muffle a 9mm”

April 8, 2021 – “what chance does a murder of a gang member solved?”

April 8, 2021 – “what percentage of murders go unsolved?”

April 8, 2021 – “how loud is a gunshot in a hotel?”

Among other evidence found at the scene were two pillows – one with multiple defects and another with suspected bloodstain pattern on it. Investigators also located drug, drug paraphernalia and bullet casings for a 9mm Luger handgun.

Wolfe was charged on June 14, 2023, with an open count of murder, robbery and tampering with evidence. He was arrested today in Albuquerque and will be booked into the Metro Detention Center.
