New Hotel and Food Hall Break Ground on Central Avenue

A skybridge-connected Marriott Residence Inn and local vendor food hall set to serve hospital staff, visitors, and energize the neighborhood

ALBUQUERQUE – A new food hall and extended-stay hotel broke ground today along Central Avenue, bringing exciting new amenities to one of Albuquerque’s most dynamic and evolving corridors.

Strategically located directly across from Presbyterian Hospital, the 96,000-square-foot project will include a 126-room Marriott Residence Inn and the Highlands Central Market, a food hall featuring 10 to 12 food vendors and gathering space for hospital staff, visitors, and nearby residents. The development is part of a larger project that will be connected to the medical campus via skybridge, offering convenient, walkable access for healthcare workers and families supporting loved ones in care.

“When you’re visiting a loved one in the hospital, sometimes all you need is a good meal and a place to rest,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This project provides that for families and also creates a revitalized space for the surrounding neighborhoods.”

The developer, Titan Development, has worked closely with the City throughout the planning and design process. The project received a Redevelopment Tax Abatement valued at approximately $998,000 over seven years, helping to make the project financially feasible and offset early property tax increases. In return, the project is delivering a range of public benefits—including enhanced pedestrian lighting, streetscape improvements, EV charging stations, and rooftop gathering space.

“The new Marriott Residence Inn and Highlands Central Market are important components of the broader Highlands redevelopment,” said Kurt Browning, partner at Titan Development. “It will be connected to Presbyterian Hospital via skybridge, the project will offer convenient dining and lodging options for hospital staff, visiting families, and the surrounding community.”

The project sits in the Sycamore Metropolitan Redevelopment Area, which has been the focus of reinvestment and infrastructure improvements over the last several years. What was once a stretch of vacant lots and blighted buildings is quickly transforming into a district full of life and opportunity.

“Thanks to a strong partnership with Titan Development, we’re bringing new energy and amenities to a corridor that’s key to Albuquerque’s future,” said MRA Director Terry Brunner. “This project advances the goals of the Sycamore Metropolitan Redevelopment Plan by increasing density, adding retail, and making the area more walkable.”

The Marriott Residence Inn and Highlands Central Market are expected to open in late 2026.
