December 31, 2025

The City of Albuquerque is continuing its work following the Mayor’s historic reelection by filling open positions and making key appointments to several management roles to support continuity and stability in the administration during the next term.

The City continues to recruit for high-level management positions locally and nationally. The third-term administration of Mayor Tim Keller is looking to advance the next generation of leaders who also value public service, innovation, equity, and safety.

“We are all deeply grateful to the people who choose to serve our community and show up for Albuquerque every day,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “As we move through a period of transition, we’re focused on lifting up the next wave of leaders who are ready to carry this work forward so our neighborhoods feel secure, and Albuquerque continues to move ahead. The future of City leadership is already taking shape.”

Mayor Keller is re-nominating Samantha Sengel as Chief Administrative Officer. As previously announced, the Chief of the Albuquerque Police Department has retired. In his place, Mayor Keller has appointed Cecily Barker as Interim Chief for APD. Keller is also re-nominating Emily Jaramillo to serve as Chief of Albuquerque Fire and Rescue. Lauren Keefe is being appointed as Interim City Attorney, and Ethan Watson is being appointed as interim City Clerk, per the City charter that requires these nominations before the new year.

The City is also recruiting for a wide variety of positions, including laborers and mechanics, several roles in the Health, Housing and Homeless department, positions in Animal Welfare, Transit and Municipal Development Departments, and a CFO. Find City employment opportunities.

The City continues to fill vacant positions on several Boards and Commissions. The City encourages anyone with a passion for service to apply to serve on any of our 58 boards that advise the Council, Mayor and staff on various issues, from arts and the environment to planning, public safety, libraries, and many more.
