Inclusive Swim Is Back!

City expands free recreation opportunities for all abilities

August 24, 2026

The City of Albuquerque’s Department of Youth and Family Services together with the Parks & Recreation Department is expanding access to fun and fitness with free Inclusive Swim Hours every Wednesday. Hours will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Highland Pool from August 2026 through May 2027, giving people with disabilities of all ages an opportunity to enjoy the water in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Inclusive Swim Hours are part of the City’s ongoing effort to make sure Albuquerque residents of all abilities have opportunities to participate and feel connected to their community. The program provides a dedicated time for people with disabilities as well as their families and caregivers to enjoy the pool more easily.

“The City is removing barriers and making sure everyone here knows they belong,” said Olyvia Lee, Inclusive Recreation Program supervisor. “Inclusive Swim Hours are one example of how we are working across departments to make our recreation options more accessible.”
