City Offers Safe Halloween Fun
Celebrate the spooky season with community events, trunk-or-treats, and haunted houses.
ALBUQUERQUE – Get in the spirit of the season with festive Halloween and Día de los Muertos events citywide. From haunted houses to pumpkin carving, library programs to pet parades, the City invites all ages to get spooky.
“We want families to celebrate Halloween with excitement and imagination, not worry,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “So we’ve put together safe, convenient options all around town.”
Halloween excitement often includes late nights, dark streets, and trick-or-treating far from home. The City’s goal is to bring festivities throughout neighborhoods, indoors when possible, well-lit, and supervised, reducing risk and increasing access. Many of these events are free or low cost, and organized in City community centers, parks, libraries, and cultural venues to reach a wide audience.
By offering a variety of City-endorsed activities, parents and guardians can choose from vetted options rather than relying solely on door-to-door candy hunts. The City also encourages:
- Wearing reflective costumes or adding glow sticks.
- Carrying flashlights.
- Walking in groups or with families.
- Checking all events for age-appropriateness and safety guidelines.
