City Makes Room for Early Learning

Spots now open for kids and teachers

The City is helping give local children a strong start with high-quality early learning opportunities for ages 3 to 5. Spots are currently available across 14 Youth and Family Services (YFS) Early Learning classrooms, providing opportunities to boost literacy, school readiness and long-term success.

“We recognize the need for, and great outcomes from, early education,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Making the most of the facilities we have to help as many kids as possible learn and grow is an important investment in a more abundant future.”

Data consistently shows that the early years are a critical phase of development. The City of Albuquerque’s Early Learning programs offer excellent year-round options for 3- to 5-year-olds. Programs include five-star NAEYC-accredited centers and provide age-appropriate curriculum, full-day play-based learning, nutritious meals and snacks, early literacy and school readiness activities, and family support services.

“Early learning educators have an incredible opportunity to make a difference,” said YFS Director Jess Martinez. “We are proud of the work happening in our classrooms and encourage people who are passionate about helping young children learn and grow to consider joining our team.”

The City provides no-cost Pre-K and low- to no-cost preschool programs with Universal Child Care Assistance, based on family eligibility.
