City Celebrates Creativity and Diversity at Annual Talent Show

Performances Shine a Bright Light on Albuquerque Youth

July 23, 2025

A beloved summer tradition returns as 15 community centers citywide come together for the annual Community Recreation Youth Talent Show, a display of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.

Families will gather to cheer on nearly 400 Albuquerque kids, ages 5 to 15, representing each participating community center. With themes rooted in positivity and inclusion, performances are choreographed by the youth themselves with guidance from teen employees and community center staff. From costumes and props to dance moves, every detail reflects their hard work and imagination.

The event has been a summer highlight for decades, celebrating not only the talents of area youth but also the diversity that makes our community vibrant. Local celebrity judges from news stations, nonprofits, and small businesses will select winners for first through fifth place based on creativity, performance, and teamwork.

The evening also includes special recognition for “Employee of the Summer” voted by their peers. These standout staff from each community center have gone above and beyond to support young people and their families all summer long.

“This event is more than just a talent show — it’s a celebration of growth, teamwork, and the joyful spirit that our community centers nurture every day,” said Mayor Tim Keller “We’re incredibly proud of our kids and staff for bringing this tradition to life year after year.”

The Community Recreation Youth Talent Show not only brings together families and neighbors — it uplifts the voices of kids, empowers young leaders, and closes out the summer on a high note of joy and celebration.
