Today, City and community leaders came together to discuss the recent economic developments and improvements to infrastructure occurring at Mesa del Sol and Albuquerque’s continued growth.

“Projects like the $8 million dollar improvements to Tijeras Arroyo Bridge connect businesses and Burqueños to the emerging economic hub that is the Mesa del Sol community,” said Deputy Director of Economic Development Monica Mitchell. “This collective City effort is an example of our dedication to building an economy that works for everyone.”

“At Mesa del Sol, we’re building a community where people can live, work, play, create, and recreate all in the same area,” said Mesa del Sol CEO David Campbell. “The future is bright, and we’re looking forward to continued growth here in Mesa del Sol.”

As Mesa del Sol continues to develop, it has attracted high-value employers who are excited to invest in Albuquerque’s workforce. Beginning in 2018, Mayor Keller’s administration secured agreements with Netflix that created approximately 3,500 jobs, and will result in $2 billion of production spend over the next ten years. Additionally, by the end of Q3 in 2022, Fidelity will have added a total of 1,184 jobs in Albuquerque.

“Folks want housing options and economic opportunity and that’s what we’re doing here,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We’re implementing infrastructure to literally pave a way for businesses into our city. These infrastructure investments are creating pathways to economic and educational success for folks.”

Mesa del Sol’s smart, sustainable and safe approach to a mixed-use development makes it an attractive location for prospective businesses and residents alike. The City’s infrastructure investment in the Tijeras Arroyo Bridge marks the beginning of a new economic era in this community.
