Description
District 6 City Councilor Nichole L. Rogers announces the kick-off to the 2026 District 6 Participatory Budgeting voting period, giving District 6 residents the power to decide how $1.7 million of public funds will be spent in their community. The voting period kicks off with a Project Expo, where project teams (comprised of both community members and City staff) will showcase their eleven projects that made it to the Final Ballot. These eleven projects are the top contenders out of the 245 project ideas that were originally submitted back in April and May of this year.
WHAT: Project Expo
WHEN: Project Expo: August 8 from 2:30-4:30pm with Voting Period lasting August 8 through September 30
WHERE: International District Library, 7601 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM
WHO: District 6 residents, District 6 community organizations, City of Albuquerque staff, and PB volunteers. Vote in person at the Expo or vote online at any time during the voting period.
DETAILS:
- Eleven projects made the Final Ballot, covering a wide variety of community needs in District 6, ranging from walking trails to pollinator gardens to a commercial kitchen.
- The Project Expo will feature presentations from project teams in a science fair format, allowing residents to learn more about each project before casting their votes.
- Community members who cast their votes at the event will receive a free food ticket for the food truck on site during the event.
- Voting is open to anyone 11 years or older who lives, works, or goes to school in District 6.
- Information and voting for each of the projects will be available in the City’s 7 "Safe Harbor" languages: Spanish, American Sign Language, Dine (Navajo), Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, and Swahili.
