ABQ BioPark loses Francis the capybara

He will be missed by his caretakers and guests.

July 7, 2021 - Francis the capybara died on Friday, July 2, following an altercation with his sister, Spring. Francis was recovering from surgery following the successful removal of an abscess earlier in the week. Due to his surgery, Francis may have been acting differently than normal, causing Spring to react negatively towards him. Francis will be missed by his caretakers and ABQ BioPark guests.

Capybaras are the world’s largest rodent and are closely related to guinea pigs.
