Family Releases a Statement - Stagecoach Lane Shooting

The family from Monday’s horrific tragedy has asked the Albuquerque Police Department to issue the following statement on their behalf.

“We would like to thank Albuquerque Police Department, Albuquerque Fire Department, International Protective Services, Albuquerque Ambulance, UNM Hospital, City of Albuquerque and the Mayor’s Office, Albuquerque Public Schools, the Governor’s Office and the numerous other agencies and organizations who have offered support and assistance in response to this event.

We appreciate everyone’s condolences and understand the desire for more information about our family, however at this time we must ask that the media respect our need for privacy.  We are aware that this tragedy effects the whole community.  We also appreciate the strength and support our community is capable of which, unfortunately, has been tested all too frequently in recent times.  Please know everyone’s support is felt and appreciated but at this very difficult period we are not in a position to speak with the public or media at this time.

As the parents, we put our children before anything else in this world.  While divorced, we have always been a family, raising our children together and actively involved with the daily activities of all three kids.  Please understand that at this very difficult time we will not be making any further public statements and are asking that the media respect this request and stop attempts to access our family for interviews and further information about our children.  We are also asking that the media not release photographs or images of our children.  We believe this is how we can continue to protect our children.

We appreciate the outpouring of condolences, thoughts and prayers.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any New Mexico Wells Fargo branch to the I.O.E. Memorial Account.  We thank everyone for understanding the family’s current need for anonymity and privacy right now. “
