About Open Space
Efforts for the preservation of open space lands began in the 1960s with a few visionary individuals. These early efforts resulted in the acquisition of over 8,500 acres of land by 1968.
People who live in Albuquerque enjoy a rich and diverse natural and cultural setting. The Sandia Mountains rise over 5,000 feet above the City's eastern edge, providing a spectacular backdrop.
