Councilor Harris has served his community as New Mexico’s Assistant Attorney General and as Assistant Albuquerque City Attorney representing law enforcement.
Councilor Harris began practicing law after graduating from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law. He continues this work as a private attorney along with his duties as a City Councilor.
Improving the lives of children is an important issue in his professional and personal life. Councilor Harris has focused his attention on the need for foster parents and the adoption of children with special needs. Councilor Harris has been a foster parent himself on several occasions and adopted his last foster child into his home. This sense of family has driven him to fight for the families of District 9 through several projects including building new parks, community centers, and making the area more inviting. Ensuring sufficient fire protection through the construction of a new fire station and strong coordination with the Albuquerque Police Department are crucial factors in providing a safe environment for all the residents of Albuquerque.
In 2009, Councilor Harris won re-election to a second term and in 2013 he won re-election to his third term as your District 9 Councilor.
