Biography

City Councilor Renee Grout is a wife, mother, grandmother, small business owner and community volunteer.  Born and raised in Albuquerque, Renee has lived in District 9 for more than 44 years.  She and her husband, Jim have been married for 38 years, raised 3 children and have 7 grandchildren. 

Having lived in District 9 most of her life, Councilor Grout is committed to bringing commonsense leadership to the Council to ensure our neighborhoods are safe and our quality of life is high.  Focusing on supporting law enforcement, fighting crime, combatting homelessness, and revitalizing District 9 are her top priorities.  Renee is committed to open government through transparency and accountability. 

Councilor Grout and her husband Jim own and operate “The Auto Clinic,” a small business started by her grandfather in 1954. 

Councilor Grout has been a volunteer and leader in her community for decades. She has served in the PTA and other parent organizations supporting her childrens’ sports and school activities.

Councilor Grout is the past president and board member of Four Hills Neighbors and Four Hills Homeowners Association and past president and board member of the Four Hills Country Club, which is now the Canyon Club. 

Councilor Grout is past president and board member of the Music Guild of New Mexico, a non-profit volunteer organization committed to supporting music through financial, educational and promotional activities.  She has also worked with the National Panhellenic Conference, serving as an advisor, board member, and mentor for more than 36 years.  Renee is an active member of Hope In Christ Church.

Councilor Grout is a member of the NRA and NRA Women’s Leadership Forum, serving on a local and national level. 

Councilor Grout and her husband Jim love to travel, work in the garden and spend time with their children and grandchildren.
