Get out to the Beach!

Here is a list of45 things you didn't know you could do at the ABQ BioPark's Tingley Beach.

05/31/2017 - It’s almost summer and that means it’s the perfect time to visit Tingley Beach at the ABQ BioPark. Tingley Beach is well known for its fishing opportunities, but the fun doesn’t end there. Here are some other reasons to come out to Tingley Beach.

Get Fit

Bring the family, come alone or walk Fido around the ponds at Tingley Beach. We have four walking paths that range from about a half mile to almost a mile in length. You can also cross the bike path to the west of Tingley Beach and explore the plants and animals of the Bosque. A newly built deck on the river allows for ADA-accessible views of the Rio Grande. You can also take advantage of Tingley Beach’s fitness equipment, which includes stations like the straddle jump.

Observe the Waterfowl

A variety of waterfowl congregate at Tingley Beach. Say hi to Canada geese, wood ducks, mallards, rick-necked ducks and more. You can feed the birds at Tingley Beach, but keep in mind that bread is bad for them. Make sure to bring oats, cracked corn, frozen peas or corn, chopped lettuce, earth worms and halved grapes instead!

Enjoy a Picnic

Come utilize Tingley’s picnic tables while you watch the fishermen and ducks. Grills are available when the fire hazard is low. Kids can play on the new children’s play structure, which includes a slide and monkey bars.

Visit the Model Boat Pond

The Model Boat Pond is open to the public from sunrise to sunset daily. Bring your own or watch others—two model boat clubs use the Model Boat Pond on the weekends.
