ABQ RIDE Increases Pay for New Drivers

City works to recruit more drivers with competitive pay, training, and benefits.

Beginning Saturday, November 19, ABQ RIDE will increase starting and post probationary pay after six months for both Motorcoach Operators and Sun Van Chauffeurs. This increase is intended to make ABQ RIDE’s pay rates more competitive, increase driver retention, and assist with recruitment.

“As we work to move ABQ RIDE forward, our team is dedicated to building a pay system that reflects the hard work and dedication of our drivers” said Transit Director Leslie Keener. “An increase in pay will allow us to recruit and maintain more drivers so we are able to meet the demand for public transportation in Albuquerque.”

This increase is the result of an agreement between the City of Albuquerque’s Transit Department and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 624 Transit Union. Original and updated pay rates are as follows:
