Through the lens of the Rio Grande cottonwood the defining presence of this landscape, the talk examines the relationship between nature, place, and the surrounding city that borders the Bosque on all sides.
The artist will discuss the evolution of this body of work, which grew from a collaborative project organized by UNM’s Dr. Manuel Montoya, Albuquerque Public Art, and Gallery One. The featured drawings are the result of an extensive on-location drawing practice developed through nearly 100 visits to the Bosque, capturing the rhythms, character, and unique identity of this treasured landscape.
This presentation offers a deeper look into the creative process, the importance of place-based art, and the ongoing conversation between the natural world and the urban spaces that surround it.
