Description

Inspired by Albuquerque’s mesas, trails, riverbanks, and Rio Grande bosque, Montavon creates layered works using fiber, collage, paint, found objects, and natural materials such as feathers, seed pods, roots, and grasses. Each piece reflects the textures, patterns, movement, and rhythms of the landscapes that surround us.

The exhibition invites visitors to slow down and notice the extraordinary in the everyday to listen, breathe, observe, and reconnect with the restorative power of spending time outdoors. Through the layering and binding of natural materials, Montavon creates meditative works that explore themes of grounding, presence, transformation, and ecological connection.

A special interactive element invites visitors to participate in the exhibition by writing their hopes for the future on handmade paper and adding them to a large hanging juniper branch. This evolving installation creates a collective expression of hope, connection, and renewal.

Montavon is an Albuquerque Master Naturalist and has been trained in many of Albuquerque’s Open Space areas. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for the landscapes, plants, textures, and natural materials found throughout the region.

Visitors are invited to experience Windows to the Soul and reflect on their own relationship with nature and the ways that time spent in open spaces can restore, ground, and inspire us.

Free and open to the public.
