Trunk or Treat Returns to Balloon Fiesta Park as Drive-Through Event
After working for weeks to plan an event that could move forward despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 2nd annual Trunk or Treat at Balloon Fiesta Park – this year as a drive-through event with COVID-safe practices in place. This family-friendly event is designed for monsters of all ages as a safe way to enjoy Halloween. Tickets are required to help ensure vehicles remain spaced and to avoid long lines of traffic. This year's event will take place on Saturday, October 31 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Tim Keller said, “Whether it was summer programs for working families or the Balloon Fall Fest, we’ve worked to find ways to keep Albuquerque’s family traditions alive during the pandemic, and Trunk or Treat is no exception. I’m thankful we are able to give families something fun and safe to do this Halloween, and I want to encourage everyone to be cautious as we all celebrate a different kind of holiday season.”
“We are excited to bring back Trunk or Treat to Balloon Fiesta Park where Albuquerque’s kids and families can enjoy the holiday in a safe and fun way,” stated Dave Simon, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Our team has worked hard to create a healthy environment to continue this tradition in a year when so many events have needed to be canceled or postponed. Come and enjoy a spooktacular evening with us!”
Kids and families are encouraged to wear their coolest costumes. Cars will drive from booth to booth for no-contact treat delivery from booths along the route. All participants must remain in their car, wear face coverings, and comply with all requirements of the current Public Health Order.
This year will be a ticketed event to help control the flow of vehicles through the park. Tickets are available for the super low cost of $2.00 per vehicle.
