Reserve Your Spot: City Fields and Sports Facilities Available for Teams and Leagues
Parks & Recreation shares how to reserve athletic fields, courts, and recreational facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and special events
ALBUQUERQUE – The City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department is encouraging sports teams, leagues, and community organizations to plan ahead and reserve athletic fields and recreational facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and sports activities throughout the year.
From neighborhood ball fields and soccer fields to tennis courts, pickleball courts, skate parks, pump tracks, and specialty facilities, the city offers a wide range of recreational spaces that support organized sports and active lifestyles across Albuquerque.
“Our parks and sports facilities are where friendships are built, skills are developed, and communities come together,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We encourage leagues, teams, and organizations to take advantage of these public spaces and start planning for their next season.”
Organizations interested in reserving City athletic facilities should begin by contacting Parks & Recreation staff with their preferred dates, location, and intended use. Staff will explain facility availability, reservation requirements, estimated costs, insurance requirements, and necessary paperwork. Depending on the type of facility being reserved, applicants may be required to submit a user agreement, reservation request form, certificate of insurance (COI), deposit, and other supporting documentation before a reservation is finalized.
For leagues seeking seasonal field assignments, Parks & Recreation recommends submitting requests by the following deadlines:
- Spring season requests – February 1
• Summer season requests – May 1
• Fall season requests – August 1
Leagues participating in the seasonal allocation process submit practice schedules, field requests, required paperwork, and insurance documentation for review. Requests received by the seasonal deadlines are considered during the City’s field allocation process, where historical use is taken into account when assigning fields. Leagues that participate in the seasonal allocation process are invited to attend quarterly field allocation meetings to help coordinate facility use and maximize access to City athletic fields.
After assignments are completed, leagues receive schedules identifying their approved field locations and times. Requests are accepted year-round, and field space that is not assigned through the seasonal process may be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
