Kirtland Dog Park Celebration

Join us Saturday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Albuquerque's newest dog park!

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and City Councilor Isaac Benton will join State Senator Jerry Ortiz y Pino, State Representative Andrew Romero, Parks and Recreation Director Dave Simon, and Kirtland Community Association President Kimberly Brown to celebrate the opening of the Kirtland Dog Park in southeast Albuquerque. Members of the Kirtland Community Association and other neighbors worked closely with Councilor Benton, the City, and state legislators to secure the funding to complete the project and give the community a safe setting for their dogs to play off leash.

To commemorate the event, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, Animal Welfare Department, and Family and Community Services Department will host a community celebration with games, activities, and a pet adoption event. The Animal Welfare Department will have the Lucky Paws van on site with adoptable pets for only $10. There will also be a climbing wall for kids and fun games and activities in the parks for families to enjoy. Folks are encouraged to bring a picnic to the park and help celebrate the opening of the Kirtland Dog Park.
