City Celebrates Richland Hills Park Renovation

ALBUQUERQUE – The City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department celebrated the completion of renovations at Richland Hills Park alongside State Representative Cynthia D. Borrego, the Richland Hills Neighborhood Association, and community members.

Upgrades include a new custom-designed playground with shaded play features, climbers, slides, swings, an ADA-accessible concrete ramp, engineered wood fiber surfacing, new site furnishings, and refreshed landscaping to improve safety and accessibility for park visitors. The renovations were made possible through a $250,000 State Capital Outlay appropriation secured by Rep. Borrego.

“Neighborhood parks are where families gather, children play, and communities grow stronger,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Investing in parks like Richland Hills creates safer, more welcoming public spaces and helps improve quality of life for Albuquerque families.”

“Neighborhood parks are essential to the health and well-being of our communities, bringing people together and providing safe places for children to play,” said Rep. Cynthia D. Borrego. “Investing in clean, modern recreational and gathering spaces, like those now available at Richland Hills Park, builds community and enhances the quality of life for local kids and families.”

The project included demolition of outdated playground equipment and removal of sand before installation of a custom GameTime play structure featuring shaded play elements, climbers, slides, educational features, and swings. The playground is finished with engineered wood fiber surfacing.

“Richland Hills Park is an important neighborhood space, and these improvements will serve local families for years to come,” said Parks & Recreation Department Deputy Director David Flores.
