Albuquerque City Women’s Golf Championships Return after Decade-Long Hiatus

Registration is now open for interested women’s golfers

For the first time in more than a decade, the Albuquerque City Women’s Golf Championships will return to the Duke City. From Tuesday, October 2 through Thursday, October 4, women golfers from across New Mexico and the region will tee off at three of the City of Albuquerque’s municipal golf courses.

“We are thrilled that the Municipal Golf Advisory Board has put in the hard work to reinstate this tournament at our great City golf courses,” stated Dave Simon, Director of the Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department. “We look forward to hosting these talented women golfers to compete in what we expect to be a fun and exciting event.”

“Members of the Municipal Golf Advisory Board are organizing this event in response to many requests to reinstate a women’s golf championship for the City of Albuquerque,” stated Sharon Harrington, who represents the Ladera Women’s Golf Association on the golf advisory board. “We are excited for this opportunity to showcase Albuquerque’s beautiful golf courses and facilities. All women with a USGA handicap are welcomed to enter this inaugural event, which some are calling the ‘All City.’”

Coordinated through the women members of the Municipal Golf Advisory Board, the tournament is open to all players with amateur status, including women from throughout New Mexico and from out of state. The field will be limited to the first 120 players to register. Entry fees are $100 per player or $70 for seniors who are 70 years of age as of September 1 and include green fees, tee gift, prizes, and an awards luncheon on October 4 at the Ladera Golf Course.

Tournament Schedule:

  • Tuesday, October 2 – Los Altos Golf Course
  • Wednesday, October 3 – Arroyo del Oso Golf Course
  • Thursday, October 4 – Ladera Golf Course

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m., and competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start each day of the tournament.
