We’re in Green, Albuquerque,

Thanks to all of you, Albuquerque will officially move into the ‘Green’ category. Now, local businesses will be able to increase indoor and outdoor capacity, and after more than a year, bars can open for outdoor service. At the City, we’ll be able to open the facilities that have been cornerstones of our response and recovery at a higher capacity.

We’re not done. If more Burqueños do their part and get the vaccine, we’re just weeks away from even more restrictions being lifted. We’re so excited to return to summer concerts, United and Isotopes games, to welcome back events at the Convention Center, have more people at our BioPark, and to host the best Balloon Fiesta on record. To successfully reopen, we need to keep up the good work.

Take a few minutes to think about friends and family who may need help scheduling an appointment or who have questions about the vaccine that you can help answer. Share your experience with them, and let them know why you got the shot. This is one of our last hurdles to fully reopen our city and state and I know we can clear it.

History was made in Albuquerque this week. The inaugural leadership team of the Albuquerque Community Safety department was announced. Director Mariela Ruiz-Angel and Deputy Directors Jasmine Desiderio and D’Albert Hall represent a strong leadership team with a powerful combination of skills to steer ACS as we bring it to life and continue to reimagine policing and public safety in our town. Learn more about these City leaders in their bio excerpts in the newsletter below.

Read on for more updates from our City – including the landmark publication of the 2021 Climate Action Plan, a transformative and community-lead plan to take on the challenges of climate change and strengthen Albuquerque’s position as one of the most sustainable cities in the nation.

When positive changes like these happen in Duke City, it’s because our community led
the way.
