Westside Emergency Housing Center Holiday Schedule Announced

Working with community volunteers, the City also helps to create an environment of holiday cheer.

December 20, 2019

The Westside Emergency Housing Center (WEHC) is extending its operation hours to provide shelter for individuals during this year’s holiday season. In addition to expanded hours, meals will also be provided.

Beginning Saturday, December 21, 2019 the WEHC will leave its doors open 24 hours a day until January 5, 2020. Prepackaged meals will be provided Monday – Friday. A hot meal will be prepared and delivered by the Rock at Noon Day on December 25th.

“We have a responsibility as a community to provide safety and dignity for people experiencing homelessness,” said Carol Pierce, Director of the Department of Family and Community Services. “The Westside Emergency Housing Center provides shelter to over 300 adults and children each night who otherwise would not have a safe place to sleep, and we are pleased to be able to stay open additional hours over the holidays.”
