Nonprofits Invited to Share Needs with City Leaders
Amid economic uncertainty and federal cuts to critical grant funding and human rights protections, the City of Albuquerque is stepping up efforts to support nonprofit partners in the community. City leaders are designing a Capacity Building program to help nonprofits sustain and expand their impact, and the City seeks input on how to best build this program for organizations serving Albuquerque.
The City will host two 90-minute Insight Sessions designed to help understand the current challenges nonprofits are facing and ways City departments can support them moving forward. The events will be facilitated to encourage participants to share a broad range of needs, ideas, and stories, and the sessions will inform the City’s efforts to create a relevant, accessible program.
“Albuquerque has a vibrant, dedicated nonprofit ecosystem that plays an essential role in addressing the unique needs of our city, but especially now, that system faces a myriad of challenges itself,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “By taking the time to better understand how to help our nonprofit partners, we can amplify the good work they are doing for the people of Albuquerque.”
“We deeply value the organizations we work with, and we’re committed to ensuring they can continue to serve the needs of our City alongside our departments,” said City of Albuquerque Civic Engagement Manager Zoe Otero Martinez. “These Insight Sessions will offer us a valuable opportunity to connect with nonprofit leaders and learn more about issues nonprofits are experiencing and how we can best tailor a program to address their needs.”
