Albuquerque Fire Rescue Promotes 13 Members
13 members take on new roles and responsibilities as company and chief level officers for AFR.
Today, the City of Albuquerque, Mayor Tim Keller, and Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo hosted a ceremony to celebrate the promotion of 13 members of Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR). This ceremony recognized promotions at officer ranks from Lieutenant to Battalion Chief. These promotions exemplify the dedication of AFR’s members to the community and the department.
The new badges and bugles are a visual symbol of rank, but what isn’t seen is the countless hours of training and studying that go into the certification and promotional process. AFR is continually adapting to the needs of the community and its members.
The department depends on every rank for its success but its progress is driven by those that provide solutions to the challenges that come with rank. Today, Albuquerque and the department celebrates those that have risen to the challenge.
- 4 Battalion Chiefs
- 7 Captains
- 2 Lieutenants
“AFR continues to be one of the finest and busiest fire departments in the nation”, said Mayor Tim Keller. “These firefighters have stepped up for our families, and we’re stepping up for them and this department by hiring cadet classes, building new stations, getting better equipment and improved training facilities. Today’s ceremony and promotions embody all of these efforts.”
“13 promotions at the officer ranks are exciting for the future of the department,” said Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo. “These are the leaders that set the expectations of the crew and ensure that standards are met. Congratulations to all those promoted and thank you for your devotion to AFR and commitment to Albuquerque.”
Special recognition was given to Taylor Black for his life saving efforts along with the crews of Station 8 and Station 12 on a pediatric drowning call in July.
The crew of Station 11 was also recognized for their life saving efforts at a structure fire in July.
