CDP’s Environmental Disclosure Program Awards Albuquerque High Marks
The City of Albuquerque received an A- for the 2024 cycle from CDP Worldwide, a global non-profit running the world's only independent environmental carbon disclosure system. Albuquerque is among the nearly 1,000 cities, states, and regions using this data-driven approach toward climate action.
“We are grateful this score recognizes the many sustainability efforts Albuquerque has put in place in the last year,” said Sustainability Officer Ann Simon. “We will continue to build on these efforts – from increasing our renewable energy use, to converting our fleet to cleaner-emission vehicles, to planting more trees.”
Through this reporting process, CDP provided recommendations and resources to participating entities on how scores can be improved. The global average score is a B. Albuquerque has been participating in this disclosure program since 2022, and this is the first time the City has achieved an A- rating.
“In 2017, I signed a pledge to reduce the City’s carbon footprint, and I am more committed than ever to enacting key climate protections for our future,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This grade validates our hard work, but reminds us that we still have work to do to meet our goals.”
CDP is a carbon disclosure project supporting companies, cities, states, and regions to monitor their environmental impacts while providing actionable datapoints and recommendations for improvement. They assess the participation of the city’s governance of climate-related issues and policies, climate risk and vulnerability, emissions inventory, planning, mitigation targets, and more. The 2025 questionnaire launches the week of June 16 to assess this year’s continuing efforts for participants. For more information on how these scores are determined: CDP: Turning Transparency to Action.
