29- 11/7/2019 - CASE: Active Shooter Special Presentation: Emcore - DIDACTIC: Active Shooter
CASE: The Emcore shooting began as a domestic violence situation. The offender went on a shooting spree outside an office building, killed three people before killing himself. Prior to the shooting, there was pattern of violent behavior towards his girlfriend. He had told multiple people that he was going to kill her. Nobody reported that. What we would like to highlight is the pre-assault indicators the offender exhibited so the network can learn them and know what to look for if it occurs. We would also like to highlight why we teach run, hide, fight. DIDACTIC: This is part one of a three-part series, specially formatted for our network, to educate participants on what to do in the event of an active shooter. In each session we will go through real scenarios and discuss ways to prevent similar situations from happening in the future. Throughout the series, presenters will cover Run. Hide. Fight and ALICE protocols. To ensure every question gets answered, APD officers will be online to answer questions as they arise in the chat.
