Albuquerque City Councilors Host Global Ties Group to Share Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign Efforts
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Albuquerque City Councilors Dan Champine (District 8) and Renée Grout (District 9) today hosted visitors from Global Ties Group to share and exchange information on efforts to address human trafficking.
Global Ties ABQ, a chapter of Global Ties U.S., participates in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), bringing people together from various countries and cultures from around the world to build professional skills that advance and inspire local opportunities and global communities.
Global Ties ABQ arranged the visit with the City Council and APD Investigative Services Deputy Chief George Vega, bringing the group’s 2025 delegation to Albuquerque to learn more about the City’s efforts on the topic of “Trafficking in Persons: Prevention and Mitigation.”
The group, consisting of visitors from Monte Negro, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia, Albania, and Bulgaria, heard from the councilors on the intent and purpose of R-24-42, the Albuquerque City Council Resolution that created the City’s Anti-Human Trafficking Public Awareness Campaign. Both Councilors Champine and Grout answered the groups’ questions and provided details of the resolution and how the City has implemented the measures called for in the resolution. APD and Council Services staff provided answers to operational questions on trafficking cases and trends in Albuquerque.
