ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Following a successful delivery on Tuesday, April 21, District 6 City Councilor Nichole L. Rogers proudly welcomed the City’s receipt of three state-of-the-art mobile hygiene trailers. These UltraLav 3-Station ADA+2 Combo units represent a significant investment in public health and dignity for the City’s unsheltered population, providing accessible showering, laundry, and restroom facilities.

The acquisition was made possible through a $246,118 State Capital Outlay request, which was fully funded through the legislative support of New Mexico House Representative Janelle Anyanonu and Representative Marianna Anaya.

The 20-foot trailers are designed for maximum utility and inclusivity, featuring an ADA-compliant landing and ramp system to ensure all residents can access these essential services. Each unit is equipped with:

  • Accessibility: One fully wheelchair-accessible station alongside two standard stations.
  • Comprehensive Facilities: Three showers, three toilets, three sinks, and one urinal per trailer.
  • Climate Control: Dedicated AC units to ensure a safe and comfortable environment year-round.
  • Modern Fixtures: Fully ADA-compliant plumbing and interior hardware, including laundry room.

“Access to a hot shower and clean clothes restores dignity and renews hope,” said City Councilor Nichole L. Rogers. “By bringing these high-quality, mobile facilities directly into the community, we are removing barriers to hygiene and helping our neighbors take an important step forward. We are incredibly grateful to our State Representatives for recognizing this need and securing the necessary funding.”

District 6 constituent engagement through Participatory Budgeting ABQ, a pilot Councilor Rogers started in 2025, and the funding partnership between the City and State made the project possible. It is an example of a unified approach to addressing the challenges of homelessness in New Mexico.

"This is a major win for public health in our district," said Representative Janelle Anyanonu. "Yes. these trailers provide a service, but they also provide a mobile sanctuary where people can take care of their most basic needs with privacy and respect."

Representative Marianna Anaya added, "Investing in accessible hygiene infrastructure is a direct investment in the well-being of our entire community. These ADA-compliant units ensure that no one is left behind, regardless of their physical mobility, as we work to provide essential resources to those in transition."

The trailers will be managed by city outreach teams and deployed to strategic locations to maximize their impact.

The hygiene trailers will begin scheduled service operations across the city starting this spring.
