Cable Franchise Agreement Renewal: Background
The current Franchise Agreement for cable television services between the City of Albuquerque and Comcast of New Mexico, LLC expires on Oct. 1, 2017.
Comcast of New Mexico has notified the City stating its intent to seek renewal of its franchise and enter into an informal renewal process, per federal law*, which involves -- among other tasks -- identifying the City's cable-related needs and evaluating Comcast's performance under the existing franchise ordinance.
Renewal Process: Get Involved
The City of Albuquerque has begun the renewal process to identify and assess the City's Cable related needs. We will be seeking input from key stakeholders in our community, like you.
With your engagement we hope to gain a more accurate picture of the quality of service Comcast Cable is currently providing.

Federal Law dictates what areas the City can regulate by ordinance. Areas Covered by Cable Television Franchise Ordinances:
- Cable Signal Quality

- Billing Practices
- Reasonable quality of services overall in light of community's needs
