Volunteer
The Balloon Museum Year-Round Volunteer Program is currently on hold. In the meantime please consider volunteering at the Balloon Museum during Balloon Fiesta October 1-9, 2022.
We plan to relaunch our Year-Round volunteer program soon, so please check back often for updates.
Learn new things. Meet people from all over the world. Delve into history, science, and technology. Inspire people to explore, discover, and achieve!
When the Balloon Museum resumes the volunteer program, you can join our dedicated group of volunteers. No specialized knowledge is necessary to become a volunteer. Balloon Museum staff will teach you everything you need to know in training sessions.
All new volunteers must attend a mandatory "New Volunteer Orientation". Look for "New Volunteer Orientation" sessions in our upcoming events calendar.
Topics covered in the two hour "New Volunteer Orientation" include:
- History of the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum
- Mission and Vision Statements and Institutional Values and Principles
- Exhibitions & Education Programs and Special Events
- Volunteer Program Overview and General Policies for Volunteers
- Communication Procedures
- Volunteer Requirements & Recommendations
- Balloon Museum Volunteer Code of Ethics
New Volunteer Requirements
- Create a volunteer profile on the OneABQ volunteer page if you don’t already have one.
- All City Volunteers are required to pass a background check. The process is initiated online when first signing up as a City of Albuquerque volunteer. If you already cleared the background check through the OneABQ volunteer page, you will not need to do so again.
- Register for and attend New Volunteer Orientation at the Balloon Museum.
- After completing Orientation, you are free to sign up for general support roles and for additional position training through the OneABQ volunteer system.
